“Shutting the Mouth of the Lion”

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ NLT),

The enemy knows what tactics will hinder you to become all God has called you to be! Once you allow the negative thoughts and lies to enter into your mindset, you respond to it. Whether you realize it or not; a pattern is set!

The enemy has been roaming the earth for thousands of years! There are 16 basic types of personalities, so there is a pattern of people and their characteristics as well. He knows what it takes for your personality to give up and quit. He knows by your repetitious patterns how you’re going to respond to different situations!

No weapon shall be formed against you and prosper (Isaiah 54:17)

I love the story of Daniel and the lions den found in Daniel 6! It tells of a man that loved God and prayed to Him even when it was against the law! He did it boldly, fearlessly, without worry! I can just imagine it was only because of his personal relationship with Christ that he knew who he was in Him! So when his enemies came and ridiculed him, they threw him into the pit with the hungry lions. God sent an Angel to close the mouths of the lions and the next morning, Daniel was still there praising God!

I wonder what we could accomplish if we got so involved in a relationship with Christ, that even when we are thrown into the pit (a situation) we would have the confidence that Daniel did and know that God will shut the mouth of the lion!

When Shadrack, Medshak and Abednego in Daniel 3, refused to bow and worship the golden image, they were brought before the King. When they not only refused to worship his god, but said that their god would deliver them from his hands and if He didn’t, that was ok too; it made the King so angry, he ordered his men to heat the furnace seven times hotter! Needless to say, when they threw 3 men in, they saw a 4th because God was there, dancing with them in the midst of the fire!

I entertain the thought that in these stories, God gave us the examples of “lions” and “fire,” the 2 symbols that represents the enemy and hell. Through this, I see that the enemy never had any power over us! They were never bit in the pit by the lions nor scorched in the fiery furnace.

You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. (‭Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭5-11‬ NKJV)

When we can stop allowing the enemy to feast on our emotions, we will become conquerors and have victory over every situation because let me remind you, the enemy has already been defeated thousands of years ago when Jesus died on the Cross and took keys of death, hell, and the grave!! It is up to us to not allow him power over our lives, our finances, our family, and any other things that he tries to steal from us!

We must have faith and know that greater is He that is within us, than he that is within the world!

My whole purpose for this blog is to expose the enemies’ play book! It empowers us to know his games and recognize the weapons that he uses to try to defeat us. Once those are understood, you can shut the mouth of the lion by speaking life into your situation and start declaring God’s promises!!
